Apart from the annoying dA watermark, it's looking very nice. You already have your name in the bottom left, so no real need. Also, the gradient, or bevel that is on the text doesn't go too well against that water, and better typo placement could be done.
Anyway, the dark to light transition as someone mentioned is especially nice here. I like the roots in the water, but again there is slight lens flare on the reeves/roots and above near the sun that could be eliminated. On a whole, I love the feel of it, the dark swamp like blend into the fresh green grass, and trees. It's a great capture! -- Philip Stewart Scotland, UK >> What, you don't like that great dA watermark? lol. I agree as I hate it too. The only reason I put it on all of my work is that I don't like placing a tag in the center area of the photo. Its easy to crop when placed on a border like I do with mine so I use the watermark. Nice catch with the gradient on the text and the water, I didn't realize that but now I see it. Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you like the deviation.

Critiques
The photo depicts the titular sanctuary/nature preserve (you don't seem to have given a location?). However it also attempts to give off the impression that it is a sanctuary of a different sort, one that isn't seen upon first glance.
Originality
Landscape/nature pics are quite common these days, hence the average rating. It is then up to the artist to display these pictures in a way that brings out fresh meaning and/or impact, as I'll find out later in this critique.
Technique (Note: I get very nitpicky with this...)
Very balanced composition, with an acceptable minimum of color variation. There is some visible lens flare by the sun, and the darkness of the sky at the top of the picture seems to shift the composition off-center somewhat given the border. The watermark also seems to distract from the full beauty of the picture.
Impact
What I particularly like about this picture is its ability to convey its title without the viewer noticing that this is an actual (wildlife) sanctuary. The light from above gives off a reassuring glow upon the tranquil environment, implying that those who tread there can find safety. Likewise, the nature on the ground is refreshingly calm without being ominous at the same time.
Overall, it's a photo that stands out, not too much to be legendary but definitely enough to convey the right emotions to the viewer.
